SAP Evaluations Available Nationwide
The employees in the transportation industry who have safety-sensitive functions are responsible for providing a safe work environment not only for their co-workers but also for the millions of people who travel by various means throughout the nation. Establishing work rules, including rules on drug use and alcohol misuse, is how the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) ensures a safe work environment. A substance abuse professional, or SAP, evaluates employees who have violated DOT drug and alcohol testing regulations and makes recommendations for the course of treatment or education, follow-up testing, and aftercare, as defined by the US DOT.
You must have a license as a physician, social worker, psychologist, or have another type of license or certification as a therapist or counselor to be a SAP. Their duty is to make sure that the public is safe and that drivers who have gone through the return-to-duty process are able to return to their safety-sensitive positions.
