The Substance Abuse Professional on our staff who is qualified can complete evaluations for employees in safety sensitive positions regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT). We are dedicated to offering SAP services in compliance with Federal Department of Transportation directives. If you test positive or refuse to test, the U.S DOT says that you are not able to do any safety-sensitive duties under any DOT-regulated employer. You need to see a Substance Abuse Professional and finish the return-to-duty process. Our services are here to help you.
Those employees with safety-sensitive functions in the transportation industry are in charge of maintaining a safe work environment for their colleagues and the millions of people who travel in different ways all over the nation. Establishing work rules, including rules on drug use and alcohol misuse, is how the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) ensures a safe work environment. A substance abuse professional, or SAP, is defined by the US Department of Transportation as a person who evaluates employees who have violated DOT drug and alcohol testing regulations in order to make recommendations for the course of treatment or education, follow-up testing and aftercare.
To be a SAP, one must be a licensed physician, social worker, psychologist, or have another type of license or certification as a therapist or counselor. It is their responsibility to look out for the public’s safety and wellbeing and to make sure that drivers who have to go through the return-to-duty process are able to go back to safety-sensitive positions.
