The Substance Abuse Professional on our staff who is qualified can complete evaluations for employees in safety sensitive positions regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT). We are committed to providing SAP services per Federal Department of Transportation guidelines. According to the U.S DOT, when you test positive or refuse to test, you are not allowed to do any safety-sensitive duties under any DOT-regulated employer until you have seen a Substance Abuse Professional and completed the return-to-duty process. SAP Evaluations Available Nationwide
The employees in the transportation industry who have safety-sensitive functions are responsible for providing a safe work environment not only for their co-workers but also for the millions of people who travel by various means throughout the nation. Establishing work rules, including rules on drug use and alcohol misuse, is how the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) ensures a safe work environment. As defined by the DOT, a substance abuse professional is a person who evaluates employees who have violated drug and alcohol testing regulations to make recommendations for treatment, education, follow-up testing, and aftercare.
To qualify as a SAP, you must be licensed as a physician, social worker, psychologist, or have another type of license or certification as a therapist or counselor. It is their responsibility to look out for the public’s safety and wellbeing and to make sure that drivers who have to go through the return-to-duty process are able to go back to safety-sensitive positions.

Mr. Collins will recommend an appropriate education and/or treatment program for you based on your specific needs, which include the presence and severity of your drug or alcohol problem, if one is identified. Mr. Collins, in order to make a recommendation about education and/or treatment, will identify the level of drug and/or alcohol use.

For those that do not have an alcohol or drug problem, it can be completed in a few days. For those that are suffering from an alcohol or drug addiction, it can take months. This includes the initial evaluation, education, treatment.

You will meet with a qualified SAP who will ask you questions about your violation, drug and alcohol use history, employment history, abuse history, family history, and any other relevant information. This evaluation is used to determine the level of care for your SAP Program.
