The Substance Abuse Professional on our staff who is qualified can complete evaluations for employees in safety sensitive positions regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT). We are committed to providing SAP services under the guidelines of the Federal Department of Transportation. According to the U.S DOT, when you test positive or refuse to test, you are not allowed to do any safety-sensitive duties under any DOT-regulated employer until you have seen a Substance Abuse Professional and completed the return-to-duty process. SAP Evaluations Available Nationwide
The employees with safety-sensitive functions in the transportation industry have the responsibility of creating a safe work environment for their fellow workers and the millions of people who travel in various ways all over the nation. By establishing work rules, including rules on drug use and alcohol misuse, the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) is able to create a safe work environment. A substance abuse professional, or SAP, evaluates employees who have violated DOT drug and alcohol testing regulations and makes recommendations for the course of treatment or education, follow-up testing, and aftercare, as defined by the US DOT.
SAP’s must be licensed physicians, social workers, psychologists, or have another type of license or certification as a therapist or counselor. They have the responsibility of protecting the public interest and making sure that drivers who go through the return-to-duty process are fit to go back to safety-sensitive positions.
