The Substance Abuse Professional on our staff is qualified and trained to complete evaluations for employees in safety sensitive positions regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT). We are committed to providing SAP services that follow Federal Department of Transportation guidelines. According to the U.S DOT, when testing positive or refusing to test, you are prohibited from performing any safety-sensitive duties under any DOT-regulated employer until you have seen a Substance Abuse Professional and completed the return-to-duty process. SAP Evaluations Available Nationwide
The employees with safety-sensitive functions in the transportation industry have the responsibility of creating a safe work environment for their fellow workers and the millions of people who travel in various ways all over the nation. By establishing work rules, including rules on drug use and alcohol misuse, the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) is able to create a safe work environment. A substance abuse professional, or SAP, is defined by the US Department of Transportation as a person who evaluates employees who have violated DOT drug and alcohol testing regulations in order to make recommendations for the course of treatment or education, follow-up testing and aftercare.
Holding a license as a physician, social worker, psychologist, or having another type of license or certification as a therapist or counselor is a requirement for being a SAP. They have the responsibility of protecting the public interest and making sure that drivers who go through the return-to-duty process are fit to go back to safety-sensitive positions.
