The Substance Abuse Professional on our staff who is qualified can complete evaluations for employees in safety sensitive positions regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT). You are not allowed to perform any safety-sensitive duties under any DOT-regulated employer if you test positive or refuse to test, according to the U.S DOT. SAP Evaluations Available Nationwide
The employees with safety-sensitive functions in the transportation industry have the responsibility of creating a safe work environment for their fellow workers and the millions of people who travel in various ways all over the nation. By establishing work rules, including rules on drug use and alcohol misuse, the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) is able to create a safe work environment. A substance abuse professional, or SAP, is defined by the US Department of Transportation as a person who evaluates employees who have violated DOT drug and alcohol testing regulations in order to make recommendations for the course of treatment or education, follow-up testing and aftercare.
SAP’s must be a licensed physician, social worker, psychologist, or otherwise licensed and certified therapist or counselor. It is their job to keep the public safe and to ensure that drivers who have been through the return-to-duty process are able to return to safety-sensitive positions.
