The qualified Substance Abuse Professional on our team can complete evaluations for employees in safety sensitive positions regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT). Our commitment is to provide SAP services under the Federal Department of Transportation’s guidelines. According to the U.S DOT, you are not permitted to carry out any safety-sensitive duties under any DOT-regulated employer if you test positive or refuse to test. First, you have to see a Substance Abuse Professional and complete the return-to-duty process. Our services are designed to help you.
The employees with safety-sensitive functions in the transportation industry have the responsibility of creating a safe work environment for their fellow workers and the millions of people who travel in various ways all over the nation. In order to ensure a safe work environment, the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has established work rules, including rules on drug use and alcohol misuse. A substance abuse professional, or SAP, is defined by the US Department of Transportation as a person who evaluates employees who have violated DOT drug and alcohol testing regulations in order to make recommendations for the course of treatment or education, follow-up testing and aftercare.
To be a SAP, one must be a licensed physician, social worker, psychologist, or have another type of license or certification as a therapist or counselor. It is the duty of these individuals to protect public interest and to ensure that drivers who complete the return-to-duty process are physically and mentally capable of returning to safety-sensitive positions.
Substance Abuse Evaluations are available for
FAA, FTA, PHSA, USCG, FMCSA & FRA
