Our Substance Abuse Professional is qualified and trained to complete evaluations for employees in safety sensitive positions regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT). Our goal is to provide SAP services that adhere to Federal Department of Transportation guidelines. You are not allowed to perform any safety-sensitive duties under any DOT-regulated employer if you test positive or refuse to test, according to the U.S DOT. You have to see a Substance Abuse Professional and complete the return-to-duty process first. Our services are designed to help you.
The employees in the transportation industry who have safety-sensitive functions are responsible for providing a safe work environment not only for their co-workers but also for the millions of people who travel by various means throughout the nation. In order to ensure a safe work environment, the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has established work rules, including rules on drug use and alcohol misuse. A substance abuse professional, or SAP, evaluates employees who have violated DOT drug and alcohol testing regulations and makes recommendations for the course of treatment or education, follow-up testing, and aftercare, as defined by the US DOT.
In order to be a SAP, you must have a license as a physician, social worker, psychologist, or have another type of license or certification as a therapist or counselor. It is their responsibility to look out for the public’s safety and wellbeing and to make sure that drivers who have to go through the return-to-duty process are able to go back to safety-sensitive positions.
