Our qualified Substance Abuse Professional can complete evaluations for employees in safety sensitive positions regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT). We are committed to providing SAP services per Federal Department of Transportation guidelines. According to the U.S DOT, when you test positive or refuse to test, you are not allowed to do any safety-sensitive duties under any DOT-regulated employer until you have seen a Substance Abuse Professional and completed the return-to-duty process. The employees with safety-sensitive functions in the transportation industry have the responsibility of creating a safe work environment for their fellow workers and the millions of people who travel in various ways all over the nation. Establishing work rules, including rules on drug use and alcohol misuse, is how the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) ensures a safe work environment. A substance abuse professional, as defined by the US Department of Transportation, is a person who evaluates employees who have violated DOT drug and alcohol testing regulations and makes recommendations for the course of treatment or education, follow-up testing, and aftercare.
In order to be a SAP, you must have a license as a physician, social worker, psychologist, or have another type of license or certification as a therapist or counselor. It is their duty to protect the public and make sure that drivers who have completed the return-to-duty process are able to return to safety-sensitive positions.
