SAP Evaluations Available Nationwide
Employees responsible for safety-sensitive functions in the transportation industry must provide a safe work environment for co-workers and the millions of people who travel in many ways throughout the nation. The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has established work rules in order to maintain a safe work environment, including rules concerning drug use and alcohol misuse. A substance abuse professional, or SAP, is defined by the US Department of Transportation as a person who evaluates employees who have violated DOT drug and alcohol testing regulations in order to make recommendations for the course of treatment or education, follow-up testing and aftercare.
To qualify as a SAP, you must be licensed as a physician, social worker, psychologist, or have another type of license or certification as a therapist or counselor.
It is the responsibility of these individuals to protect public interest and ensure that drivers returning from the return-to-duty process are fit to return to safety-sensitive positions.
